PocketMate ("we", "us") helps you track personal expenses and split shared expenses with friends and groups. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: your name and email address (required); phone number and profile photo (optional).
• Financial & activity data you enter: expense amounts, descriptions, dates, groups, friends, and settlement records.
• Authentication data: your password, stored only in a securely hashed form (never in plain text).

2. How we use your information

We use your data solely to provide the app's features — tracking expenses, splitting costs, showing balances and settlements, managing your account, and keeping the service secure. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. How your information is shared

We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for marketing. Data you add to a shared group (for example, an expense you split) is visible to the members of that group, because that is the purpose of the feature. Your data may be processed by our infrastructure providers (hosting and email delivery) strictly to operate the service.

4. Data security

All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app: Profile → Delete My Account. You may also email us to request deletion. Once deleted, your account and data cannot be recovered.

6. Children's privacy

PocketMate is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version.
